SAVED BY A BLANK PAGE

After this world gave me a good spank
With its firm and ruthless reality plank
The pain made my eyes puffy and dank
And my inner thoughts to clink and clank
On a page that was completely blank

The fine tip of my quill greedily sank
Its tooth spewing ink from its shank
With verses I started draining the tank
Of my whole mental and emotional bank
On a page that was completely blank

Out of a lost stupor it gave me a yank
From a foul state of the lowest rank
Where every aspect of my life stank
Forcing my soul’s emotions to crank
On a page that was completely blank

From the left flank to the right flank
Up to down the page eagerly drank
I had that great awakening to thank
For the weight of the world had shrank
On a page that was completely blank

In many life tests I had miserably flunk
I became a hopeless miserable drunk
My follies turned me to a smelly skunk
But all of that crap I was able to dunk
On a page that was completely blank

To the world I was a vagabond, a punk
Nothing made sense to me, all was bunk
Wasted part of my life, quite a big chunk
But what remained of me, is a poetic hunk
On a page that was completely blank

From the madness that used to slunk
Upon my sanity with such a fiery funk
Leaving me to burn in a hellish trunk
Yet still a rose grew from all that junk
On a page that was completely blank

Well no matter how deep my ship sunk
Or the number of strings left to plunk
My hopes never ever completely shrunk
For I knew I would never run out of spunk
On a page that was completely blank
