WHO AM Id I AM HE

Who am I? Please hold that thought
It’s a conundrum so long bethought
An enigma so thought and rethought
The conclusion critically forethought

I am he who has been artfully wrought
From a great many life mistakes brought
By illusions my youthful ignorance bought
Also by seething scars of many battles fought

I am he who the world fooled! I blindly sought
Life’s many pleasures and treasures that ought
To have ended a search for my destiny’s drought
Instead it bestowed misery and regrets unsought

Who am I? I am he whose soul was distraught
From the challenges and massive onslaught
Of tribulations bamboozling a youth caught
In a web of temptations and vices life taught

I am he who was ignorant and untaught
In cunning deceptions soon to fraught
This lost youth of a dreamer chasing naught
Laid bare by woes of ambitions uncaught

Who am I? I am he who strived to stay afloat
Wearing his murky past like a tattered coat
Bearing consequential hardships that bloat
Whilst sailing across life’s treacherous moat

I am he who was fervently rowing his boat
Against life’s turbulent currents that gloat
Of how its big strong waves are a cutthroat
To he who dares use the past as a scapegoat

Who am i? I am he who was a caged bird, a parrot
The mule following life’s stick and a dangling carrot
Poetry freed me, made me a wild card in fates tarot
From an existence meant to simply gather dust and rot

Who am i? I am he who was strangling on a knot
Of a hang man’s noose! Yet determined to unknot
Relating to the matter of yes I can and no I cannot
I believe in the former, as to the later I believe not

Who am i? I am he who is now a rhyming zealot
Out of Sodom dint look back like the wife of Lot
From the cocoon my past faults and errors begot
I sprung forth a butterfly that began as a maggot

Who am I? I am a poet unlike any other sort
With a poetic niche as his most sacred resort
With poetry as his life and his sole consort
With poetic dreams that won’t be cut short

I am he who has a purpose no force can distort
And a wisdom too great to corrupt or contort
I am he who will provide an enlightening escort
A poetic lighthouse guiding lost ships to port

I am he who will relentlessly spare no effort
To scale the slippery walls that made my fort
And abandoning the life of dreamless comfort
To sail seas with uncharted waters of discomfort

Who am i? I am he who earned a poetic passport
With a poetic license that passionately purport
An all inspiring powerful right to import and export
Lost hopes and dreams that circumstances deport

Who am i? Indeed I am he who never ever forgot
In order to win I have to put in everything I’ve got
Day in day out connecting each line and each dot
For my destiny would be decided on the verses I jot

Who am I? I am he who drops lines so simmering hot
And tackle themes that have a mouthwatering plot
He who will never quit giving it my very best shot
Till I find X that marks the spot and hit the jack pot
