FORBIDDEN LOVE THE SONG OF A CROONER

She was the daughter of an aristocratic tycoon
A poor man like me to him was a rabid raccoon
Who deserved to be shot or caged in a barracoon
He raised her in a closed wealthy society cocoon
Why I was chosen among the whole lonely platoon
The naked winged boy as characterized in a cartoon
Cupid as they call him must be a romantic buffoon
For the love arrow he shot truck me like a typhoon
Let me just call a spade a spade and not a big spoon
Instead of an arrow he must have thrown a harpoon

I remember it was the season of the wet monsoon
I never once thought our paths would cross so soon
That day the rain started pouring just around noon
Into the bright night filled with stars and a full moon
It was then that the goddess walked into the saloon
Her beauty could turn a suave gentleman into a loon
The inn patrons were simple folks and many a goon
Local dregs who fished for oysters in the reef lagoon
She looked so stunning elegantly dressed in maroon
Drawn by love I approached her with a poetic croon

“To the world you’re a beauty and I just a beastly coon
In my world you’re the queen of my hearts Brigadoon
You’re the lady of my dreams, my sweet heavenly boon
You knock off my feet with an intimate emotional swoon
My feelings for you make me blind to reality’s lampoon
Let’s bond our names into a soul mates eternal festoon
Come let us sing and dance to true loves’ magical bassoon
And share a passionate romance against society’s dragoon”
